Engineering Cut-Off Mark calculator 2016

The cut off mark is nothing but the mark which is used to join a course or a program in college. The cut-off mark is a stable value so that the students have to score higher or equal than the cut-off and so only they will be able to join the course or they can’t be able to join course. For example, if the cut-off is 180, the students have to get more than 180 of their cut-off mark and so on.

Procedure for calculating cut-off mark

The cut-off marks are calculated using the marks that have been attained in the subjects like physics, chemistry and mathematics.   The procedure for calculating the cut-off marks are as given in the tabulation form below,

Subjects

Marks in total

Calculation of Cut-off

Marks (cut-off)

Physics

200

200/4

50

Chemistry

200

200/4

50

Mathematics

200

200/2

100

Total Cut-off marks

200/200

For an example, if a student score in main subjects is like,

  • Mathematics – 192
  • Physics – 180
  • Chemistry – 165, then the cut-off mark will be like given below,

The TNEA rank list is nothing but the list of rank of students which have been generated by the Anna University in which the rank list will be generated based on the calculation of the cutoff marks of the students. The students on the rank list will be called for the counselling in which on the counselling, the students can be able to select the engineering colleges based on the rank they get.

Once the examination result had been announced, the students can be able to calculate the cutoff marks by above method in which the marks will be collected by Anna University. Then after the assessment of the marks by Anna University, the university will announce the rank list of the students based on the cutoff marks in which the application for the counselling along with the rank will be delivered to home itself. The application will also carry the application number and the date of the counselling so that the student must attend the counselling at the place and date mentioned in the application. The date of counselling will get vary based on the ranks and so that the student should only attend the counselling on the date mentioned in the application.

So the students have to score the cutoff marks more than required level and so that only the student will be listed on the rank list or otherwise the student will not be available in the rank list.
